DONE CUTTING GRAIN-FINALLY
O.k. i am behind on my blogging. On October 16th Stacy, Bailey, and I went to Rexburg and IF to celebrate my birthday. We had a great time. We picked up a Bountiful Basket in Victor and then drove over the pass into Swan Valley. It was a beautiful drive. When we got to IF we went to Best Buy and Stacy bought me a new zoom lens for my camera. Can't wait to use it. We then went and ate at Johnny Carino's and then we went to Rexburg and saw the movie Secretariat. It was good, we enjoyed it. It was fun. Then on Sunday we went to church and then after church Stacy got ready and went to Soda to go hunting with Wes. They had a great time, but did not get into the elk. Stacy came home on Tuesday night and then Wednesday we went up on the mountain and finished cutting grain. It was still green, unbelievable. We got it cut and had a truck come get it and we basically gave it away. Not sure if it was worth going after or not. On Thursday we went and got the combines and brought them home and stopped at Terry Kay's and helped him finish his grain. Then the storm hit on Sunday. Since then it has been snowy and cold. So glad to be done.

E-mail, New Area
Hello family, how is everything going there for you all? i hope so well and you are getting things ready for winter! that is so crazy that that time of the year is already there! it has been in the mid 70's here and actually rained a little one day, it is awesome weather! :) i am in East Mesa in the Salt River Stake, we cover 4 wards and our area is huge. we are on bikes too so its pretty hard! we cover from Mcdowell to Main and Power and Ellsworth. Main crossroads are 1 mile aparts so our area is 3X3. there is so much potential here, so many ppl and lots of ppl to teach, but the last elder who was here with elder weaver didnt work and the area is dead!! no work going on what so ever and there hasn't been a baptism here in a long time! elder weaver has only been on his mission for one month so he doesnt know the area or any one real well to start off with, so i have been going around and meeting all the bishops and WML and getting them excited to help and help them realize that i am really here to work! i have offered to speak in all their wards and so far i am speaking in one this Sunday and hopefully all the others in the near future!
I have been stressed out to the max this week! i am district leader here, i am over 5 other championships. they all are pretty disobedient and its going to be a real chanllage to get everything back going like they could be! we have our first district meeting tomorrow and i am looking forward to that, (i dont think elder weaver likes me cause i am making him be obedient) haha, but thats ok, he'll thank me later.
elder weaver is interesting to say the least, he is just...weird, he is from Georgia and we have nothing in common. he is just learning to ride a bike and has 0 balance and coordination! haha, i wont lie, i was pretty depressed when i found out about it all, when i left snowflake me and elder edwards had 8 bap dates for the month of November!!! i was so sad to leave all those wonderful ppl there, but things are looking up, he knows where i stand and is getting better with working with me. this week we were knocking some doors on our way to go visit some one and we knocked into this black family and they invited us back, so we came back the next day and taught them! they are so elect! we set a bap date with them for the 27th of nov. so the working is already improving! :) helps keep me possitive!
i loved your package you sent me! thanks so much, i loved the tape and the shoes fit perfectly and look really good. thanks for doing that for me! :) all the halloween stuff made me smile! :)
the txt you got last week came from a member is SF! they were nice enough to send a real quick note to let you know that i got transferred. :) as far as a new suit, i am here in mesa now so if ineed something i am not too far away so i should be good! thanks though! i really appreciate all you do for me! :) i guess the best way to send me mail is just to the mission address until i find out for sure what my address is here! :) thanks
so ya...it will all work out! :) i am just trying my hardest to keep my chin up and moving forward! i am glad that you got the pics i sent! hope you enjoyed! sure sounds like bailey and dad are having a blast hunting! :) thats so good to hear. i am glad that bailey gets to have some of those incredible times and memories in the mountains with dad, those are some of my most cherished memories! :) i look forward to our packtrip and hunting trips when i get back! :)
Sorry that my email last week was so short, i only had 20min and i was stressed to a T but things are starting to settle down a little! i really love and appreciate all your support and care in my behalf, even though this is by far the hardest thing i have ever done in my life, i am growing so much, i have come the realization that God truly is there and cares about each and everyone of us, that through Christ we can accomplish all things, big or small, and that even though we may be put in a hard situation, you can make it work, i have learned alot of patience and gratitude. i loved pres monsons talk on gratitude in conference, it has helped me alot. Out of everhting i have learned so far one of the biggest things i feel i have developed is to reconize the hand of God in all things, there is no such thing as a coincidence, and to be Humle! Humility is the key to success in all things! there is NO way we can do any thing alone and the more we turn our selfs over to the Lord the more he helps us out! :)
I have a challenge for everyone that reads my emails. i invite ppl everyday to read the book of Mormon and to pray about it, and along with that we promise true happiness. a blessing of happiness that cannot be found any where else. there is so much power within the book of Mormon and those families that read it everyday together, they seem to find a new and everlasting strength within the home! so please read the book of mormon with your family every day! one verse to one chapter, what ever is possible. even if your children are too young to understand or remember what is acutally being read, they Will remember the fact that you were consistant in doing so! the book of mormon i such a blessing in our lives and i know that for 18 years of my life, i took it for granted! :) it is such i blessing!
I love you all so much, my mission has changed my life and i have all of you to thank for helping me make it all possible! so thank you.
Be sure and keep me up to date and in touch! (BTW a member told me that Brock Lessner got knocked out and it made me smile ;)) but with all the daily matters of life i love to hear about! thanks for all you do and your willingness to help! keep up the good work and be safe! take care and have a wonderful day/week! :)
Much Love,
Elder Dalan Lerwill

This is Dalan's latest letter and I have sure worried about him a lot. Can't wait to hear from him and get the whole 411. This tests my faith I think more than his. Hope he is doing o.k. and a little brighter by now. We love and miss him so much but are so proud of him.

Dalan's E-Mail Oct. 12, 2010 Doing so good, so Proud of him!
Hello hello! wow sounds like things are busy and going well there! :) so good to hear that you are starting to grain gone. dont get to itchy in all the wonderful grain dust dad! ;) haha, thats way good you can get that process going! how are things going with the insurance adj?! hope that all works out the best it can.
sounds like you had a good time at lagoon and thanks for the great pics! :) hopefully the weather has made its annual change, it sure has here! it has been getting into the low 30's at night fairly often! we will probley be getting a car next transfer because every one is saying snow soon! i am hoping like crazy i get to stay for one more transfer! i want to see some snow so much! haha, also we are going to have such a amazing transfer coming up! we have 5 bap scheduled for the next 6 weeks! :) seeing so many miracles! but what ever happens it will be for the best...but if i have any say in the matter, i want to stay in snowflake! :) we get transfer news Saturday night, so we'll see!? :)
this morning has been great! we got to go through the temple at 8 then after that we went to Heber for our zone activity! we played dodgeball with tennis balls! it was way intense and i am so sore! haha
so this week we got a referal for some one in 4th ward and we contacted then yesterday and they are so golden, they invited us back that night at 5 (which was a miracle that we even had any time open cause we are so booked) and so we came back and taught them, the parents are less active members and they have a 17 year old daughter who wants to be baptised! we taught her about the restoration and set a bap date with her for Nov. 6th! so exciting! last week we found 3 new inv. and they are all pretty solid! things are going so well here and the work is moving so fast!
I am getting a package put together with my shoes in it and a few other things that i dont really need or i want to send to ya so they dont break between transfers! so be looking for that some time this week. also there are somethings in it for moms birthday!!! happy day:) haha, i really hope that you have agood one and do something fun! :)
Bailey i am so excited for you to go to the dance! sounds like you are getting everything put together and organized! :) that will be a blast for you! Remember, "safety in Numbers" ;) haha, have a good time and enjoy it!
Nathan is doing really well. ya its crazy , he is about done and that just blows my mind! goes by so fast! and can you believe that James hits his year mark in Dec!!!!! that is so crazy, it seemed that right after he left, Luke left, then i did, its so insane how time goes by!
i am not sure what else is going on here that is new and exciting besides missionary work, which is always exciting, haha, but we are teaching lots of people, staying busy thats for sure! thanks for all the support from home and every one there. means a lot and defently helps!! Elder Edwards is doing well, he is really stuggling with his matters at home, which is understandable, but its really hard for him to stay focused! he hasn't caught the full vision of a mission yet and still dreads going out and work hard every day, but that will change at about 4 months! :) its just getting to there that is the hardest... i think haha! i am so glad i am where i am now and doing the things that i am doing!
its weird how your perspective changes, you come to love those people that you serve, being transferred out of this area will feel like leaving home again, maybe not quite so emotional, but that feeling of leaving people you love is hard! but its all a growing experience, and one thing that i have learned it that you don't realize how you have changed or grown till its over with then you can look back and see what you have accomplished, so there is no use in complaining, it does no good and only hinders your growth, take what the Lord gives you and run with it! :)
I love you all so much. you help me get through the trails in life and you always have, so thank you so much! keep up the good work, be safe, and keep in touch! :) i love and miss you all, take care and have a wonderful evening, night, day, week, ;) haha, your always in my prayers!
