Silly for Blue...

OK we went to DI and had a great time. I found this cool old roaster that is BLUE. How cool right. Katie found a really cute one and has it at her house so I was really excited to find me one. Stacy was laughing at me and he said, "What are you going to do with that?" I said, "I don't know, it's BLUE and my sister has one!" OK somebody tell me something cute to do with it so I don't have to take it back to DI. Hey it was only $2.00.

I am crazy I know but this beckon me to buy it. Not sure why? The only thing I can think is that is reminds me of something we always had in our house growing up. I even remember it and the teapots in our old house. Any cute ideas for it, Katie?

This cost me a buck. Hey it doesn't take much to impress me, does it?

Here is Stacy's find. Yes it is cool too. Only $3.00 bucks!

Bailey's finds. Algebra for Dummies and The Complete Idiot's Guide for Algebra. Yes that would be all of us in this Lerwill home.
She also found two really cute pairs of shoes. Again $3.00 each. She was so excited. A cute bright lime green pair of the new flat gym shoe, no laces but just the holes. ( all I can think of it like Van's, does that date me????) and a cute brown pair.

Farm Hands???

Well Bailey and I try. Friday when Bailey did not have school we spent most of the day with Stacy up on the mountain. Bailey and I were getting Stacy's tool box off the Dodge for him and going to take it to where he needed it. Bailey had one end and I had the other and as we got it up and off the bed I rammed my leg into the hitch on the back. I think I almost bent it :( Of course I dropped my end of the box and Bailey strained the muscles in her back to get the box moved to the other pick up. Yes we are weak. Please don't try and tell me that men and women are equal. We are different and I know Heavenly Father made us that way. At least it makes me feel better to think of it that way.

Nimrods

My family comes from many generations of Nimrods. According to Random House Webster's School &Office Dictionary , Nimrod means: a great hunter. Hunting has been in my family for a long time. From generation to generation our fathers have taught their children how to hunt. My father learned from his father and my brother learned from our dad. We gave my brother the nickname of Nimrod. Since the age of twelve, I have also learned how to hunt and have officially became a Nimrod also.

When I turned twelve I quickly signed up for hunters safety. After the classes were over I purchased my license and was eager for fall to come, so I could buy a tag for a deer. Fall came quickly, the tag was bought, and the guns were ready. My dad, brother and I were all camouflaged up and ready for our hunt. We decided to go just above our house and see if we could see anything. Lucky for me, we saw a deer and we were in range for me to take a shot. While I held the gun I could barely keep it still because of excitement and heavy breathing. However, I was able to hold my breath and steady myself. I slowly pulled the trigger causing the deer to fall making my first year of hunting a success.

The next year my sights were set on a buck. I was trying so hard to be like my big brother, who had shot one earlier in the season. I wanted to shoot a bigger buck and beat his horn size. The season was soon ending and I was not presented with a chance to shoot a buck. Since I am a youth hunter I can hunt bucks or does. So on one of the last days of the season we were scouting our fields to find any game. We came across a small herd of does and fawns and the opportunity was right for me to take the shot at a doe. After the shot she ran fifty yards and collapsed. The adrenaline rushed through my body after the shot and while waiting to find her. With the help of my dad and brother we were able to locate and proceed with taking proper care of the meat. It was an exciting time.

The following year it was my third hunting season. I decided that I was going to take whatever I saw, buck or doe. It was the first day of deer season and my family and I were up in the Milk Creek area for several hours searching for any sign of deer. We had no luck, so we decided to head home . After we returned home we spotted some deer by the creek below our house. Carefully we made our way over to where the deer were. I had to shoot my brother's gun because I had forgot my shells. I had never shot it before, so I was a little nervous. I took his 30-06 in my arms and aimed it at the deer. The shot rang through the canyon as I had hit my target.

I am now entering my fourth season of hunting and hoping to get a buck, and my first bull elk . I will have to buy my tags, get shells, and make sure that I have everything I will need to be successful this year. I am excited for my dad to take me and have that time to be together. I wish that my brother could join us but he will not be here this year. We will continue on with this tradition and put meat in the freezer. We are excited for when he can join with us in our future hunts.

During the past three years of hunting deer I have fired three shots and killed three deer. I hope to keep the tradition of hunting in my family. I want to be able to see my kids shoot their first game and continue to raise Nimrods and enjoy this experience as a family.

Letter from Dalan's Mission President

September 10, 2010

Dear Brother and Sister Lerwill:

We are pleased to inform you that your son, Elder Dalan Lerwill, has been called to be a District Leader. We are grateful for Elder Lerwill's desire to serve and set an example to the other missionaries in his district. The position of district leader is one of responsibility and trust, requiring the utmost diligence, faithfulness, and obedience. A district leader must work in close association with all of the missionaries in his district to find, teach, and prepare individuals for baptism. One of the the most sacred and trusted responsibilities your son will have will be to interview candidates for baptism. In doing so, he will represent the Lord as He outlined in Doctrine and Covenants 20:37.

As a district leader your son will be responsible for the spiritual welfare and all aspects of missionary work in his district, as he serves with all of his heart, might, mind and strength. This experience will provide many opportunities for learning and growth as he works hard to fulfill these responsibilities.

In addition your son has been called to be a trainer for one of our new missionaries.  The calling of a trainer is the most important leadership position in the mission and one that is extended only to our trusted and effective missionaries. The role of a trainer has more influence on the future success of the missionary than any other single factor, including their experience at the Missionary Training Center. For this reason your son has been selected to play a key part in laying a firm foundation for this new missionary.

We are grateful for Elder Lerwill's service in the Arizona Mesa Mission and we thank you for raising such a fine missionary. Your encouragement and support is important and we urge you to continue sending letters that uplift and inspire your missionary in this important work. Thank you again for sharing your son with us.

Very truly yours,

R. Spence Ellsworth
Mission President

Fall is here

We put up our fall, Halloween, harvest, even some Thanksgiving  decorations up. (Don't pumpkins get to count til Thanksgiving?) I made harvest blocks with wheat on the scrapbook paper. Sure wish we could cut our grain! We finished Monday on the home place, green or not we did it. We did have one truck of wet grain that did heat up and Stacy dumped it on the ground. He is trying to cool it off and then we will sell it for feed hopefully. Stacy thinks the rest will all be o.k., we will keep the fans running for sure. We got things moved up to the mountain but it is still so GREEN even to the eye. Patience is not an easy thing to work on when who knows what the weather will do tomorrow. Sure wish we wouldn't have to cut into October (AGAIN) but what are our options. Yes have patience is our option. Can't believe that a couple of years ago we didn't even cut grain in Sept. we had it all done in Aug. The last two years we have finished on the 14th and 19th of October. I think that was the first time since I have been married that I remember cutting in October. It is crazy weired how things work out. We always have tried to be done by Garry's birthday which is today. We sure have been thinking a lot about him today. Happy Birthday Garry, we miss you.
I guess that "Harvest" can mean our crops and also the harvest of an deer or elk as that season approaches. We have been seeing the elk and hearing them. They bedded down in front of our house the other night. When Stacy cut the grain on Monday he saw their beds. The other morning I woke up at 5 and heard the bull bugling, it was way cool.

Homecoming Parade

Bailey had a great homecoming I think. She always has fun when she is with Jessica and her friends. It was really fun to win the football game. Wow they have won 3 now.

Ya i did get your mail while i was in scottsdale! they didnt forward any of it while i was there and we were able to pick it up at the end of each day! and ya our mission home is a church! pres and sis ellsworth live in a house right there on the grounds to the north of the church! it was such a amzing week! so powerful. it was pretty much a 4 day zone confrence except better! pres just gave trainings the whole time and it was so powerful! :) the meetings got out at 4 and then we went out with other missionaries in the area! i went with the mountain view zone leaders! thats in a part of mesa! it was 107-110 degrees all the days i was there andi was on a bike one of those days! wow thats a killer! haha, but it was a blast and i learned so much!!! it was really hard to be away from my area for 4 days, but we are being so blessed for the sacrifice!! we are finding new ppl to teach left and right! its so amaizng! :)

I have my first district meeting tomarro! i am kinda nervous but it will be awesome! we have a lot of new and exciting things happening in the mission! :) Me and elder edwards are doing good! its always hard to live with another random guy for a extensive period of time, but the Lord defently qualifys! haha, he is having some issues with the missionary schedual...but i am beating it out of him! Haha, jk! he is doing well and WOW, what a learning expirence this is! lots on my shoulders, but things are going so well and i am growing so much!

its way kool cause me and President get along really well and he really likes me so that helps a ton! we had lots of good talks this past week and i love it went ppl feel like they can trust you and want to work with ya! :)

It is kinda hard though, we have some missionaries in my district that are really struggling with being obediant, so i am involved with all that crap along with the zone leaders...so it is always exciting and keeps me on my toes!

we are starting to get some of the small effects of fall here! it is dropping down into the 40's at night and it feels amazing! as far as changing trees, not so much, i dont see to much of a difference in the sage brush! haha, there are alot of pines though! so thats a nice little touch of home! ;)

That is really crazy that elder Rowbury knows bro robison!! elder rowbury is awesome! he has only been out a little longer than me but we get along so so well! we have a blast together! we will be comps someday for sure....i hope! haha ;) he is great though and we would have so much fun together! :)

so i figured out that we have alot of family down in mesa area, because i had several missionaries come up to me and told me that they have ppl ask about me intheir wards! haha thats so crazy! i am sure that at some point i will be in if not really close to on of their wards and ill have dinner with them! haha that will be kool!

so ya it has defently been a different week but we are being so blessed here! i love this area and all the ppl...even the ones who yell at me!;) ha, it is so rewarding and and a incrdible learning and growing expirece! i feel so strongly that because i am serving a mission it will help me out though all of life! and not only in church related things! so i am happy and having a blast!

I love and appreciate all that you do for me and all the support you show! it really means a lot! keep up the good work their and good luck with the grain and all that fun stuff! you all are always inmy prayers! be safe and keep healthy! I love and miss you so much! take care for the week.

there is a high possiblitly that i will get transfered onthe 19th of oct i think it is when transfers are!? but ya idk, it depends on weather pres. feels if elder edwards can take over the area or not!? we'll see! :) but i absoulutly love snowflake!!! the people are amazing and i love them so much! but what ever happens i will be excited! its been a blast having a companion who will talk with me though! haha, we have got to know each other pretty well and it helps out so much just having some one to ask and talk to who will talk back! haha :) its been good!

This is copied and pasted from our weather we follow. Please tell me it is a mistake!!!

Transfer, Trainer, DL Wow

So this has officially been the craziest week of my life! all went well with getting elder mace packed up and sent off! its really weird, even though we didnt really get along perfect and we had very little in common, it was still hard to say good bye! so weird how that all works!

so it sounds like you already heard 50% of my crazy news!!!! i was sitting in bed on Saturday night, it was about 10:00 and we were waiting for the ZL's to call with transfer news and all of the sudden the phone rang! i was way excited to find out who my new comp is! i look at the phone and it wasn't the ZL's, it was the mission office calling! i about pooped cause president only calls for leadership positions and i knew that it wasnt for elder mace. so i answered it and had a little small talk with pres, then he told me that he had a assignment for me... my heart about dropped. then he asked me to be a trainer! I of course said yes, then he said, while your training would you like to be the district leader? i couldnt even answer for a second.... i said yes. after i hung up the phone i pretty much went into shock! it was the last thing i expected! the ZL's had been telling me that i would train, and i thought they were just messing around with me and giving me a hard time....so needless to say i have quite a bit of stress/pressure!! i have been praying so much! haha, so right now i am comp with elder Rowberry! it has been a blast! so we are covering both my area here and his in Heber. it is sooo pretty there! he is training as well so we will go down and pick up our new comps and go to training meeting together tomorrow! it will be a blast! :) he has been out 8 months so we are having a blast! :) i am very nervous, but the Lord will qualify...hopefully! haha I am going from being a greenie in my greenie area to training/DL! i feel so inferior, but it will be such an amazing learning experience!

All investigators are doing really well, we do have a few dates in September, it kinda sucks but, one of them named Jacob frost had a date for the 18th and his family just lost their house so they are moving to Washington this week! but oh well, we will pass his info on and he will get baptized there! :) Lindsay is doing so well! she has so much faith and will be OK, she probably wont be able to get baptized until a later time, but it will happen! :) there is a lot of good stuff going on here and it is only going to get better! :)

I am way stoked to be training! it will be so much fun! :) i still don't believe its really happening....but i am pretty sure it is! haha its kinda funny cause other missionaries asked me what i thought my mission prediction was, and i predicted i would be Jr. companion until 22 months, then i would die as a senior comp! haha, the funny thing is that it really doesn't make any difference who is Jr Sr comp, but my perdiction was a little off...so we'll see! please keep me in your prayers that i wont ruin a new missionary! haha jk, it will be awsome!

thats crazy that the news got home before i got to tell you! haha, its a small world! i ate dinner last night with a family that had gone to skool at ricks with andy davis and i told them that his son was coming to this mission! pretty crazy! haha, its funny but, i haven't met like half of the missionaries in the mission just cause i am north on the mountain, but ALL of them know me because sis Bassett did a little spill in everyone's zone confrence about running from dogs and what happens when you do! haha and she used my name so they all know about me breaking my collar bone! word goes around quickly! that why you need to be sure you do good things cause you dont want bad things going around! haha,

I got a kinda funny story real quik, we were at a members house for dinner and we were eating in their back yard and they had a cat that kept rubbing up against my leg and it was getting really annoying cause i had hair every where so wen we all got up to go inside i picked it up chuked it in the air(cats always land on their feet...right) WRONG, it landed right on the top of its head and then just laid there in the middle of their laun..... i about crapped thinking that i just killed this members cat! haha so i ran over to it while the members were still looking away and i bumped it with my foot and i jumped up and ran off! ohhhh gezzz, close call!! that could of been really bad! :)

also snowflake is infested with skunks, so there is always crazy stories of biking down gravel roads dodging skunks! haha, not too fun! but exciting :)

well i better get going, but you all are in my prayers and i love and appreciate all that you guys do for me! i miss you tonz! have a wonderful week and keep the equitment running and together! good luck with everything on the farm! i pray for you all! have a good one and stay in touch!

Love,

Elder Dalan Lerwill

Blessings

I have so many blessings I am so thankful for. I just got done mowing the lawn and it is an absolutely gorgeous evening, the grass is so green, my flowers are still really pretty and now there is fresh water sprinkling on the lawn. My sweet daughter just drove herself into Young Women's to rub shoulders with great people there. She has a strong testimony of the gospel. Elder Lerwill wrote home yesterday and we also got a tape from him. He is doing so good and growing and has such a strong testimony and loves the people he is teaching. He is being made a trainer and and a district leader and takes it humbly and seriously. We all have such great support while he is gone. Wonderful and supportive grandparents that both of my kids have grown up with, watching, and learning from them. Awesome Uncle's and Aunt's and cousins. What GREAT EXAMPLES for us to learn from. I can honestly say that we LOVE them all so much. A wonderful husband who is my BEST FRIEND. A wonderful husband, father, provider, friend. Boy I am sentimental today, not sure why, I just feel so blessed.
(written while listening to the most spiritual and beautiful CD, Reflections of Christ, a must have if you need some calming for the soul!)

Fall is Here

Yummy apples. We tried something new and put jello on our apples before we dried them. Yummy!
Have pears I am waiting on and corn is coming next week-end for the freezer.
Pigs go to the butcher on Thursday.
Stacy is already into 2010 salsa so I better round up some more tomatoes for salsa.

Pet Peeves

1.Teton County roads! This picture doesn't do it justice. So BAD!

2. Cutting Fall Wheat while most of it is laying on the ground. It took an hour to fill a bulker full.

Words that come from Stacy's cousin that are so true.
It is not our job to ask why? It is our job to figure out how to deal with it!

Starting Harvest

So here it begins. After we got home on Satuday at 7 or so we went and tested the fall wheat again. It had been in the 17 for moisture but it changed overnight. We were testing around 8 and lower. So Stacy and Bailey and I drove around in the combine, which was almost as fun as our scenic drive. Us girls helped get trucks situated and we went home and Stacy stayed and ran til 12:30. We went to church today, it was a really good Sacrament Meeting and have just rested and did the normal Sunday doings. We will finish the fall wheat in the morining if doesn't rain or should I say snow. It is soooo cold here tonight. It is going to freeze so hard. We hope to go to the Blackfoot fair tomorrow. We will see how it all turns out.

Labor Day Weekend Saturday Drive

On the Mesa Falls scenic drive. A little info of our famous Teton Peaks. What awesome mountain. Wonder how many thousand of times these babies have had their picture taken. Millions of times I am sure.

At Lower Mesa Falls

These are at the Upper Mesa Falls. Beautiful.
Big Springs
We had such an enjoyable day. We took off around 11:00 and drove to Ashton and had lunch there and then went on the scenic road around to Mesa Falls. It was a nice day and we just enjoyed the good company and beautiful scenery.
