Macie's Eggs

Macie and her family came for a short visit to see us and her Daddy helped Stacy cut grain. We so enjoyed seeing all of them and loved the help. Macie decorated her own egg carton(thanks Bailey) and then gathered the eggs and took a dozen home. She is so cute!

Harvest and Canning

We have been busy trying to get the grain gathered in. Wow. We have had lots of breakdowns and some rain and it seems like we have been working on this a long time. On Saturday we finished the home place and moved up to the mountain. It is too green though and so we will hurry up and wait for it to change. It was cold last night and feels like it will be really cold tonight so maybe the frost will help us out. I did see something I thought I would never see, Stacy climbed up the grain bin to close the lid one night in his CROCS. I had to harass him a little. Love Ya Hun. I have also been doing more canning. I did 18 quarts of peach pie filling last Monday and made peach freezer jam and peach leather. Yummy. Today I have got 12 pints of salsa done. Next week I hope to get my apples. Now an update on Dalan. He is doing so well and loving college life. He is making friends by the handfuls and most of them are of the really cute kind. It is fun to watch him grow and become a fine young man. He has a job in his ward and that has kept him busy also. He is the home teaching coordinator. He has been working close with the Elders Quorm President and really likes him. He has great roommates and is doing well. He came home on Sunday to Grandpa's birthday party and spent the night and left this morning to get back to his 9 o'clock class. It was fun to see him and visit. Bailey misses him so much. She only has one week left of school and then will be out for Fall Break. We hope we can go camping, but the way is looks we will probably be cutting grain. Hopefully we have a long fall and can get some last minute camping in.

More Happy Birthday's

Wow, I can't believe that September is over half gone. Where does the time go? My Dad celebrated his 70th birthday on Thursday. How can that be. Love you Dad, you are awesome and always young at heart. I hope I can do half of what you do when I am 70! Also on Sunday we had a birthday party for Garry. His birthday is this Tuesday. We love him and our prayers are always with him. It was fun to see all of Stacy's brothers, sister, and their families. They are all great people doing amazing things, raising great kids, and strong in the gospel. Garry and Verna you should be very proud!

Family Update

Just an update on all that is going on here at the Lerwill Farm. Dalan is having an absolute blast out at college. He really likes his roommate and a couple of the other guys in his apartment. I think there has been a lot of looking at chicks, but not the farm animal type. He left those here for us to look after. Stacy was able to start cutting grain yesterday again. We broke down though and could only run 1 machine so hopefully the parts will come in today to get it back and running. We had 2 really cold nights that it froze so we think the grain will be dry and ready as soon as we can get to it. I hope all runs smoothly and we can get a lot done. Bailey is really liking high school and doing well. She has really struggled that last few days, she misses Dalan so much. Lots of tears. It is Homecoming this week and so the next couple of days will be fun. She is staying after school to decorate the float and tonight is the Powderpuff game and bonfire. Tomorrow is the parade and football game. She can't be old enough to be doing all this stuff, can she? I have a funny story to tell that happened to her and I last night. We let our chickens out to roam around a half hour or so before dark and we were sitting in the Avalanche watching them and I had one on my side of the vehicle and she had one on her side that keep eyeing us and looking up and she rolled her window up and I gave her a bad time that she was a chicken and that nothing would happen. Well not long after all of a sudden I had a red chicken flying up into my face on my side of the pickup. Bailey and I screamed so loud they probably heard us in the next county. So here was this chicken sitting on the top of my door and window and I thought what do I do? Do I pet it? I was so startled I just pushed her off onto the ground. I am sure she was just as surprised as Bailey and I. We laughed so hard! She couldn't wait to tell Dalan and Dad.

DALAN HAS A NEW ADDRESS!

WOW, we have had a hard time today thinking that our little boy is not little and off to college. Dalan left to go to Rexburg to check into his apartment. He is coming home tonight but still what an adjustment. We are so excited for him also. I told Bailey we would be so sad if he did not want to ever leave home and make something of himself so it makes it easier to see this all happen. It will be an adjustment but all is good. We are proud of him and can't wait to hear all about his days adventure. He left and all his chicks but one produced eggs today. We went from getting 6 to 11 in one day. We had one lay one that did not have a hard shell on it. It was soft but all still enclosed and safe. It was really weired. We are excited to show Dalan.

PICKLES!!!

On Friday after school Bailey and I went to Rexburg to pick up cucumbers we had ordered. They were so beautiful. On Saturday we did pickles. We had a great time. We were very tired at the end of the day, it took us all day. We had 36 pounds of cucumbers and we made 28 quarts of pickles. We can't wait to taste them, hope they are good. The boys had a busy day on Saturday also, we got to cut grain Friday and Saturday. The crop looks so good, hope we can get it all in. On Sunday we went to the Idaho State Fair and watched the team penning and branding. We had such a great time eating all the yummy fair food. It also rained at home so today Monday we can not cut, hopefully we can get in the fields again soon!
