E-Mail 2-28-2011

oh hello every one! i have had one of the most amazing weeks ever and hope that i have time to fill you in on it all. but it was great to read your emails and hear how every thing is going there! sounds like things are staying white and busy! so good to hear about Shelby, i really hope that she is happy and i really hope that they can both get active and i will hear from them! thanks for getting them my address! that is soo exciting about samantha!! i have had such a strong feeling that she is reseptive and ready! she is a great girl and would really make a strong member! :) thats great that dad has all of his simplot points and i dont blame him, i would go get a free meal as well! :) so what going on with this spring? have you go any contracts set up? what are you doing on darwins place? hopfully everything keeps going smoothly! Well i was sitting here reading all the emails sent to me today and i was reading baileys and i busted up laughing when she was talking about the green bean joke! i dont know if it is really as funny as it sounded or if i have just been away from baileys joking personalitly for too long but it made me laugh! sounds like everyone is keeping busy and running different directions. good to hear! that was a awesome miricle about dad giving you a blessing mom, the priestood is real and i have the opertunity to see that often! what a wonderful blessing it is to have in the home and at all times! we are teaching a few families right now who are single mothers and a few kids and they comment on how good it feels to have the priestood in the home! :) O.K. now i will fill you in on my sweet week!

So i we were at transfers helping missionaries get to and from the mission home and elder hiatt came up to me and he asked me if i had heard? i was like heard what?! he told me that he wanted to be the one to tell me, Alma, Jackie, Cynthia, and Erik Hueartas are getting baptised! i worked with this family the whole time i was in that area and they would always come to church and read and pray but were never too thrilled about the thought of getting baptised, but right before i left the area we set a date for them on the 5th of febuary, Alma needed to be interview by president so they pushed it back and it made them all even stronger! they asked me to be a witness and i got to go back for it on saturday! it was so amazing to see a whole family get baptised! they were all so excited and nervous and there were lots of tears and hugs! HaHa, so sweet to see. they are such a sweet family and threatened to hunt me down if i didnt come back and visit with my family! ha so there we go! automaticly a awesome weekend! so blessed! :)

Lee passed her baptismal interview with flying colors and is good to go for this coming saturday and then they are actually getting married on april 8th! :) so exciting, she is so prepared, one of the most prepared people i have tuaght on my mission so far and i feel so blessed to have been able to get to know her and work with them!

then for the next weekend there is a kid named Tedd who is getting baptised. way awesome and has come such a long ways, we are teaching him tonight! hopfully he told his parents about everything that is happening, he is 20 so they leagally cant do anything but it sure makes it a lot easier if they are chill! so we have been praying for a softened heart, he says they are kinda anti, so we will find out tonight!

the next weekend Sarah is getting baptised on the 18th and then she is getting married to Nathan on the 19th so it will be a crazy weekend! she is so ready and comes to church every week. they are already talking about going to the temple in a year! so that will be a awesome expirence!

I got a letter from Aaron Nichols and they are doing great, he got the melkezidek priestood and month of so back and they are doing great! they have had another kid, thats hard to believe! but it is so awesome to hear from these people and how i affected their lives! i am so appreciative for this expirence! they are set and good to go through the temple in July!!!! so i get to travle back up to Zion (Snowflake) to go through with them! and it actually isnt that far off! :) AWESOME

So today we have some fun stuff planned! we are with the spanish elders, Mills and Williams and we are going to go shopping and then we are taking off for a few hours to watch the Cubs play a spring training game! it will be a lot of fun. if nothing else i will get a hot dog! ;) we arent sure who they are playing but it will be enjoyable! :)

my voice is back now and i am feeling lots better, still have stuff in my lungs but it is going away fast! elder paiz has been having these seering head akes and it has just been really missreable for him and he noticed that his tooth is getting a little tender so he went to the dentist and we found out that his root cannal that he got done a year and half ago is infected so we are going to a specialty doctor tomarro and he is going to get it redone...fun fun...NOT! we do get to go out side the mission though and there is a in and out burger right next to the doc so we may have to conviently pick up a burger! haha :)

we are being so blessed here right now, there are so many people who have been prepared and waiting for the gospel! the church is true because if it wasnt missionaries would have ruined it along time ago, but some how the work keeps moving forward. and it will continue to do so till it has filled the whole earth. we are so blessed as members to have the knowlage we do. brings so much comfort and peace into our lives and people notice the differnece through example. you never know who you are effecting by just being and doing what you are suppost to! thanks for all you do and your love and support! keep it up there and keep in touch! your always in my prayers and hope you healthy and happy! :) have a wonderful week!

Love

Elder Dalan Lerwill

P.S. my BG's are doing good, i am cracking down again and getting tighter control and with that comes a few more lows but i am doing good, always prepared for whats next! :) thanks for all you do! take care :)

Priesthood Miracles

We had our own Priesthood miracle here on Saturday night. It was fun to write Dalan and tell him about it. We love all of his miracles.
Saturday night I went to bed and woke up around 11:00 coughing so hard. I thought I was going to blow my head off. I could not stop and if it would settle for a minute the second I would lay down it would start all over. I finally asked Stacy to give me a blessing. I have never had a prayer or blessing answered so quickly in my life. Stacy blessed me that I would not cough and that I would be able to sleep and let my body heal. He finished and I coughed a couple quick times, went to bed and didn't make another peep all night long. I felt such sweetness knowing that my Heavenly Father truly hears and answers our prayers. I am so thankful that Stacy lives worthily to uphold his Priesthood responsibilities. I love him so much. I am so thankful. Pretty crazy that my Primary lesson on Sunday was about Priesthood Blessings. I had my very own story to tell my 5 year olds. Too bad 5 years olds are well, you know, 5 years old.

Needed something Spring

Oh we need some spring time happiness. So I made this cute wreath. Strawberry Lemonade. We can hope. The weather man says we could get 1-4 inches of snow this evening with 35 mph winds.

e-Mail 2-22-11

hello how are things going there for youall? sounds like you have had quite the white week end there, it has been buitiful here, really nice weather and awesome sunsets latly! :) sounds like you all had a great time in twin for the long weekend! sounds like there was alot to talk about and you all enjoyed it! it has been a crazy week here, lots of running like crazy trying to get it all done! transfers are tomarrow so we have have been dealing with all that, missionaries going home, coming in, Davids baptizm, and still teaching people! haha, so i will do my best to fill you in on it all! but first off, that is so heart breaking to hear about cody fullmer, i send my love. please do get my address to Shelby and Mariah. i thought about them a while back and wondered how they were!? or get me their addresses and i will get them a letter! thanks. so on more of a uplifting note...Davids baptizm went awesome! there were alot of people who turned up for it and it went just as planned. his son who was baptized in September, Chris, baptized him and he got it done on the first try! :) relief. Elder piaz and i gave a restoration presentation while he was getting dressed and there were several non-members there so it was good to fill them in a little! that family is so awesome. David has changed so much in the past few months it is awesome to see, the confirmation on sunday was good as well. he is a really funny guy and loves messing around so you never know what your going to get when your around him so it is always eventful! :) i feel so blessed to have been able to be a part and work with them!

We dont have any baptisms coming up this weekend but Lee is getting baptised on the 5th and she is so ready! Chris, her son in law to be, is getting back active and Lee wants him to do the baptizm and he got interviewed on sunday and he is going to be able to do that! we are so excited for them both! she already has her program lined out on who she wants to do what and is ready to go! she came to Davids baptism and loved it. she loves church and is so prepared! everytime we teach her we end up learning more from her than she learns from us it feels like! she has quite the story and is goign to be a awesome missionary! she brought her mom to church on sunday and also to a relief society social thing and they both loved it! :) so great to see people accept the gosepl and see their lives change. Every time we teach her she gives us both big hugs and tell us how much she appreciates us. it makes me feel like i am doing somthing right. we are being so blessed here.

the leadership in this stake is incredible! they are helping us so much and all of our wards are exploding! Our high councilmen over missionary work just got released as a bishop and knows how things are suppost to work and is detirmend to have every ward in our stake to baptize every month and it looks like he is gettting the job done because we have dates set in each ward for the next 2 months. it is so different to work in wards who help you and work with you and have a desire to do missionary work as well! this is one of the best stakes we have in this misson as far as leadership and members go. what a blessing this is! :)

Oh i havnt even told you about transfers...I am staying here. so i will send elder paiz home in 6 weeks and get a new comp and hopfully be here for 2 more transfers after that! :) our zone is have a few changes, some missionaries are getting white washed out because they arent doing much and the area need a boost so we will be having some aweosme missionaries coming in so we are excited about that! there are going to be 2 companionships training so that will be fun! I remember my first day in the field and all the excitment and meeting my 1st zone leaders and thinking how amazing they were and just how they were the coolest thing sence sliced bread, but now that i am in their situation i relize that we are no different than anyother missonary. but it is wonderful because we get to have such a impact on them. just as i looked up to mine, they are looking up to us and it is really humbling to be a part of and see. one of my first zone leaders, elder Jenkins, flys home today and we had to take a missionary inour zone to the mission home yesterday because he is going home too and so i got to see him there and it was awesome. i look up to him so much and he helped me at so many times on my mission! with elder mace, myself, and just other things he was and is some one i look up to so much. it really sucked to see him go, but i learned so much from him! it is so wonderful to have great example through out life! helps a lot and i have been really blessed with many. thank you all!

Hope you all have a wonderful week and get feeling better and keep safe. i got my perscriptions yesterday and i will try and get them again before the end of the month! :) i need a new pair of gym shoes so i am going to go loook today and i might have to put it on my home card, hope thats ok! :) i love and miss you so much but i am doing so well out here, nothing to worry about! :) hope things are the same there, your always in my prayers and hope you have a wonderuful week! Thanks for allyour support!

Love,

Elder Dalan Lerwill

Now I know I am not going to die, I will Blog

We had a super great fun week end going to Twin and seeing Wes, Katie, and kids and Grandpa and Grandma. Thursday night though the week end began by Grandpa and Grandma coming and staying with us so they could do their taxes on Friday. Always fun to have them come and stay. Friday morning they took off for Rexburg and we left around noon for Twin. On Saturday we went into town and meet Grandma and Grandpa and Bailey bought her some new boots (with Grandpa's help) and then we went to the CSI girls basketball game. We took Macie with us and Katie, Wes, and Stockton stayed home. Stockton was sick. It was really fun to see the game. Laurel Kearsley a girl Dalan went to school with is one of the main stars. After the game we got to visit with her and her family. It was fun to see her. Sunday we went to Sacrament Meeting and then we thought we would go home that evening. But the roads into the valley were all closed. So we stayed one more night and had a great time visiting with everyone. So sorry we didn't get to see Cary and his family. I think they were on the road some of the time. We tried calling them on our way through but I am sure they will be glad they didn't have to see me. I chilled and fevered all the way home. Tuesday and Wednesday I was so sick. I am feeling much better today, just have the stupid cough and sound like a 85 year old women who smokes. Stacy and Bailey took really good care of me. I still haven't got much done though.  Thanks guys.
Stockton's little checks were so hot and fevered. He sure does love his Uncle Stacy. He shadowed him all week end.

Breakfast table Monday morning ready to e-mail our missionary!

We also got to spend some time with Jeff's kids when they got snowed in at our house and got to spend the night with us. Fun surprise for us!

Change for Fun

Bailey and I dyed her hair red, brown the other day. It is a real pretty color. It does take you back when you first see it just because it is so different, but looks cute. Bailey had a hard day the first day going to school, different colored hair, eye infection so she had to wear her glasses, and having to have braces again, all didn't contribute to a good day.(Plus the bad news at school) But by Tuesday she was her happy confident self. Which I Love!

Crazy Teton Valley Weather

Winter is getting very long. But what is new, typical Teton Valley winter. On Sunday the wind had blown all night long. Stacy got up and got ready for his early meetings. He called us a ways down the road and told us not to come to church because the wind was blowing the roads in and the plows were not out. He came home right before Sacrament meeting and was lucky to get home. Our drive way wasn't bad but from the corner over to the mail box was horrible. Then on Tuesday it was such a beautiful, beautiful, sunny spring like day. Wednesday it was o.k. in the morning, and the snow just looked so spring like and then by evening it all began. It started snowing and the wind blowing. Verna had a very scary trip home from Rexburg. So thankful she made it o.k. Our high school boys were out in Rexburg for district basketball. Wow, what a game, we listened to it on the radio. We won with a 3 pointer in the last 3.1 seconds. After the game was over they closed Hwy 33. So all of the team and people spent the night out there. The wind blew all night and there was no school today. Tomorrow is teacher inservice and there is not school on Monday for President's Day. So Bailey gets another long week-end. We won't complain about that. We are going to go to Twin this week end if the weather will be good. Tomorrow we are going to another funeral. So sad. Bailey has experience suicide more in the last year than I have until I was an adult. This is 3 in the last year. What does Satan have on these kids. I wish they could realize how special and loved they really are. Pray for all of our youth!

Fudge covered strawberries!

I made Alana's yummy fudge and I wanted to also do some chocolate covered strawberries. Well the fudge was done and I thought why not just put fudge on them and save myself time. It turned out good and yummy and they are so pretty. I made them for Bailey and her friends who are having a party at our house tonight. It is the matching t shirt dance at school but they all came here instead. I know they will have more fun here than the dance. Plus guys are dumb and don't ask the girls!  Glad to have them over. We ate pizza and they are in the hot tub and then will play games, wii, and probably watch a movie. Lots of giggling going on too.

Eagle & Winter

Cute Bowling Shirts

Bailey is doing bowling this year for winter sports. She is excited to be doing it with her best friends. So they wanted to make bowling shirts and this is what we came up with. They turned out really cute. Hope they don't get kicked out of school for such innuendos. We even made one for Coach Berry.

Mormon.org

Hi, I'm Dalan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from a small town in Idaho. I grew up on our family farm and love working with my family. My hobbies are riding dirtbikes, hunting, camping, skiing, listening to music, and hanging out with family and friends! My family and I are really close. My sister and I have Type 1 Diabetes and have both struggled through the years together to be able to control and manage it. We have been there for each other and have a wonderful relationship. Along with my sister, i have my wonderful parents who have always been there for me and have provided so much love and support to me through all the years! I have been so blessed to be able to be brought up in the Gospel and see all the blessings that it brings to me and my family! It has changed my entire aspect of life and brought me so much joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church my whole life and have had so many wonderful examples to help show me the way. Being raised in the church i always went to church with my family and did all the things that are expected of me but there came a time in my life when i had to find out for my self that it was true. It did not just come over night and i never had a miraculous expirence but as i honestly searched for truth and it came. I began to realize all of the tender mercies of the Lord in my life as well as in my family, all the blessings, everything that has been givin to us as we have been obediant to what has been asked of us as children of God. There is no doubt in my mind that God lives and that he has a plan for us. There can be so much comfort and peace found in our lives as we come to the realization that God is there and that we have the ability to talk to him through prayer, that Christ lives today and has suffered for each and every one of us, and that through him we can some day prove ourselves worthy and return to live in his presence. When we relize this, life takes on a whole new perspective. As lifes trials confront us we will find greater happiness and comfort that all will be ok. We may not understand why, but we will relize that God has his hand in ever phase of our life and is testing, guiding, and supporting us through our struggles. So many blessings are simply hinged upon the simle principle of Obediance. God loves us and wants us to be happy!

Frequently Asked Questions

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

We have a loving father in heaven who wants the very best for us and has givin us so many tools to be able to find all that he has to offer. After proper and authorized baptism, a worthy male who holds the priesthood will lay their hands on your head and give you the gift of the Holy Ghost. From that time forward he will be there to be a constant companion, as long as you are living worth of his presents. As we go through out life there will be unavoidable stuggles and challanges that arise, leaving us scared, doubting, and alone, but through the Holy Ghost we can find the comfort and direction needed at that time and forever. The Holy Ghost has blessed me so much though out my life. He has always been there for me when i needed it the most.

How I live my faith

Living the Gospel is daily effort that brings me closer to my savior each day! Through constant prayer for strength and guidance i find comfort and greater ease following the spirit, alowing me to grow each day more and more! I have the opertunity to serve others everyday and see the happiness that the Gospel brings to them. What a joy it is to help those around you follow the example of Jesus Christ!

E-Mail 2-8-2011

Good morning! how is everything going there? i hope well and warm! :) sounds like things have been a little chilly there! haha, it has been here as well! it actually froze the other night and ppl were out covering their trees and bushes, suprisingly cold for Febuary here, they say by mid march early april it will be hitting mid 90's... not too excited for that! haha but ill love the cool weather while it is here! ;) The cabinents look awesome! you are doing such a good job with them! now just hopfully they will fit! haha ;) they will work great! cant believe that it is fertilizer meeting time of the year again! haha, that was so much fun last year going around with you to all those meetings! that st anthony meeting was really cold!! hopefully it will be a little warmer for you this year! haha wish i could go and be there to keep you entertained! haha! wow, you reminded me that i got my call a year ago... i cannot believe how fast time flys by! nathan wasnt even out a year when i got my call and now he will be home in not very long at all! crazy!

Just to inform you now before i forget this small detail...our mission is moving our pdays to monday starting next week so that will be from now on! mondays not Tuesdays! it will be a little different but it will be a good change, there really isnt a reason why they are doing it besides salt lake has encouraged all missions to be on a monday!? so it will work :)

This past week has been really crazy! I ended up staying in the area while elder paiz went to the meetings so that we could keep our area alive so all week i have been going on exchanges with diferent companionships in the zone and working with them! it has been a amazing week! we have been blessed so much and are seeing so many miricles! on Tues we got a phone call from a man in one of our wards and he told us that he has a friend that has been wantign to take the lessons and wanted to set up a time for us to come over. we went over and taught on Thursday night. her name is Lee, she is in her mid 60's and has been going to church for the past 2 months in another ward and finall desided that she wanted to meet with us. it was the most powerful lesson i have had on my mission so far! it was so amazing. she has been reading the bom and praying and searching for the truth and finally got her answer. she used to attend the Chuch of Christ which teaches anti mormon lit as a sunday skool class and she didnt think that it was right for a christian to put down another, so she quit attending and started looking for somthing new. she has lots of mormon friends who introduced her to the church and thats how it all started! as we were teaching her we asked her to read pray to know if what we had shared with her was true and she said "listen boys, if i hadn't already prayed and got a answer knowing that this is the path i want to take, i wouldnt be sitting here right now, but just to make you happy, ill do it again!" we were all jaw dropped, ever her member friend whos home we were teaching in! haha it was so powerful, we set a bap date with her for the 5 th of March and she is working for that! :) it was so sweet! so SOLID! so we are being so blessed and there are so many ppl that are being prepared now!

David Jordan is getting baptised this next weekend and he is so excited for it, already printed out his programs and is ready to roll! his son Chris is going to be baptising him, he is 17 and was baptised 2 months ago as well so it will be amazing. there will have to be more than one person in the font, David is a really big guy, 300lbs so it should be eventful, hopfully he dont sink or else we are in trouble! haha :)

me and elder paiz are getting along awesome! we have alot in common and work really will together. he goes home the same time as nathan so next transfer! he is doing great and not getting trunky at all so i am thankful for that! makes things alot easier! haha I am not sure why my mormon.org profile hasnt been updated yet!?! it should have been, ill get on and check it right after i finish this up! But ya please do get on my facebook and put my mission address on there!  :) that would be great, mabey i would here from a few more ppl! :) can always use that! :)

I am doing good on all suplies, the only thing that you could send me is some more syringes! i would appreciate that but all is in stock here! :) thanks a ton.

we have a busy day planned here today. me and elder paiz are making a zone t-shirt so we have to go finalize that, we have zone confrence tomarro which we have to set up for and prepare a training,we are having our zone activity today at 1:30, we are going to golf land, it is a miniture golf couse that i guess is prettty fun! :) so we'll see! and we still have to go shopping! :) haha so we will be running around all day! but thats better than being bored!

things are going really good here! lots of sucsess and miricles everyday and that is what makes it all worth it! :) thank you so much for making it all possible! :) i Love and miss you all a ton and pray for you every day! :) hope Dad enjoys his last few days of ski skool and bailey enjoys bowling! that will be fun for her to go and be with all her friends! wish i was there to ski with ya but i will be soon enough! :) hope and pray that all goes smoothly there for you all and you are safe and healthy! :) take care and have a wonderful week!

Love you,

A Great Find

Another of my DI finds from last week. These were so popular several years ago and I wanted one so bad. They were very expensive and could not bring myself to spend that kind of money. Stacy was always going to make me one, but we never got it done. So when I saw this I was so excited. The original price tag is still on it for $39.95 and I got it for $6.00. Not sure if I am going to put a calender in it or do something different. The inspiration hasn't hit, I will have to come back and let you know when it happens.

Dalan's Ordination

This is Dalan's Certificate for receiving the Melchizedek Priesthood.

Rexburg Temple

This is really crazy how this happened. I cleaned out my bedroom closest today and I found all these temple keepsakes from the Rexburg Temple Dedication. I wanted to put them into the blog and sat down and started working on it and saw that it was dedicated on the Feb. 3, 2008. I thought how crazy is that. But then I remembered that President Hinkley had died and they had to post pone the dedication. It was dedicated on the 10 th of February 2008. It was President Monson's first official business as the new Prophet of the church. I find it still crazy that I would be doing this almost exactly to the date. It was a special day. It was really great to take our family and go through the open house. We also had the opportunity to work at the temple during the open house. I can't believe it has been 3 years!
