I grabbed 4 forks for lunch instead of three. I felt lonely this morning when I woke up knowing one of the beds here were empty. Bailey is not sharing the couch with anyone. We don't want to watch "Heartland" without the full audience. It is quieter around here. We have to move the game camera by ourselves. Will miss talks in bed. Yes we miss Dalan and he has only been gone a little over 24 hours.
They announced in church today that tomorrow is family home evening for the empty nesters and older single people. Stacy leaned over and said that was us next year. Grrrrrrr!!!!

Goldylocks does not live here.........
A week ago or so we got a phone call that there was a bear in the neighborhood. He had broke a huge branch off of a apple tree over on Packsaddle Estates. I guess he had been over to Terry Kay's and had been in a grain bin. Well about a week ago we saw that he had been here. By our new shop there were some choke cherries (not very much because of frost) but he had striped the tree of the berries. There was also a big pile of dung. We went and bought a couple of bear tags but haven't thought much about it other than being careful when we are outside. With harvest it was not the first thing on our list to worry about it. Also the other day we woke up and my one bucket of flowers had been dug out and scattered all over the side walk. Didn't think much about it just assumed that the dogs had done it. A couple of day ago another bucket of flowers again right by our door to laundry room was dug out again. Again thought it was probably the dogs. Well this morning when Dalan was going out to help Stacy he saw claw tracks all over our cement pad in front of the garage. It is crazy. You can see where he has walked and his claws and scratched the cement. There are a few places it looks like he really scratched at the cement. Also in our back yard there has been some scratching at the gopher holes in the lawn and dirt is thrown back a lot farther than Stacy thinks a dog would do. Crazy Crazy. I am not too excited about having a bear come eat my porridge or sit in my chair or lay in my bed!

Twelve Signs of Fall
- Cooler nights: We left our windows open the other day and woke to grouchy kids. Bailey said that if you want her to get up and get ready for school it can't be that cold in the mornings. Dalan claimed he froze all night and was curled up in a ball. We had to put two more blankets on him so he could get warmed up enough to get out of bed. (Dalan's room is the coldest for some reason)
- Dry grass and the leaves are starting to change. Hope we get some color. Most of them are just turning brown.
- Grain Harvest is over. Yeah!! It went pretty smooth. We sure would have liked to have seem a better crop but we will take what we are given. Fall wage checks were written. Dalan had 101 hours in nine days.
- Fall Wheat is getting planted as we speak.
- College begins on Monday for Dalan.
- Football season is in full swing at THS.
- We sold our Fall Wheat for 8.25.
- We will start shipping Barley next week.
- My Wonderful Mom and Dad both have birthdays! Love them both so much!
- I want to leave and abandon work and go for a drive. I get this from my Mom.
- Lots of talk of hunting season going on around here.
- I am thinking about washing windows and fall yard work. Can't wait to plant some tulips to bring happiness in the spring.

CHANGE...IT IS HARD
Last night as Stacy and I were laying in bed Stacy said to me," I could be sad." I said, "why?" (This is something I usually say, not him.) And he said, " just listen." As I listened I heard the kids in one of their rooms laughing and teasing each other. Their joyful voices kidded each other back and forth. It was the sweetest sounds ever. Stacy said, "I don't want it to change." Me neither!! Where has time gone. Dalan goes back to college next Monday and Bailey's Senior year will fly by just like life does. I love that Stacy and I have had the opportunity to be the parents of wonderful wonderful children. Things will change drastically in the year to come but we will enjoy every minute. And yes the changes will all be good, but it will be so different than having our family at home living with us. Change can be so hard! Especially when it is the end of an era. We have two children who are adults. Pretty crazy. So as I dried my tears in bed I will do the same now and continue on enjoying EVER SINGLE MOMENT!
Owl always love you.....
We have heard this Screech Owl all summer long. Some nights it has even kept us awake. Tonight he landed on our white vinyl fence. Dang I wish it would have been lighter outside. This is the best I could get. Man he is big. It looked like a big cat was sitting out on the fence. Pretty cool looking.
Eastern Idaho state fair
We had a great time at the fair. We all made up with fair food that we missed from the last 2 years. Yum. Bailey also bought her first lottery ticket. No she didn't win anything. The kids went on three rides. Dalan got off the first one and said I am old. Yes he wanted to throw up. He had just made fun of his dad for saying he would throw up if he went on any rides. Bailey was disappointed in him. Ha ha.
