Mother's Day Phone Call

Notes from Mother's Day phone call.

Dalan is doing so good. He is happy, healthy, and LOVES his mission. He can't believe how fast time is going by. He feels so blessed (his exact words). Mesa Arizona is the perfect place for him and he loves the people and area. He says that Elder Thomas and him have seen so many blessings and miracles. They get a long so good and have so much fun together and are working so hard. He couldn't hardly wait to give us an update on the family that just showed up in their ward the week before. (After their special fast) On last Thursday they went to the Bishops house to teach them and when they got there, there was a man sitting with them. Well the Dad said if the whole family was excited about it he wanted to be involved to. They taught all 5 of them and Dalan said it was the MOST spiritual lesson he has ever had in his whole mission. So the Dad's name is Owen, the mom is Kim and they have a 20 yr. old. 14 yr. old, and a 11 yr. old. They are hoping that they will all be baptised by the end of the month. The father also gave the closing prayer. He had not done this before and Dalan said it was so awesome. The father wondered if he had been baptised but the bishop checked and he had been blessed as a baby and that was all. Dalan said it would be his and Elder Thomas's first baptism of a whole complete family. A missionaries dream. I so hope Dalan doesn't get transferred. He will find out on Sat. and then next Wed. will be transfers. He said that a girl named Erika will also be getting baptised at the end of the month. He said by next transfer he could have 8 baptisms. Wow! Dalan was so excited to tell us that in July he gets to go back to Snowflake and go through the temple with Aaron Nicholes. He also said that what he has learned the most and talked a lot about this last 3 months is "perspective". Perspective on himself, spirituality and time. He also told us this that we didn't know. His mission is the highest baptising mission in the country with SLC. He says it switches back and forth with the SLC mission. Pretty crazy. He says the members are the key. He says the Stake he is in now, is a well oiled machine. He says it is amazing how they run things. He is doing so well and we couldn't be prouder. Elder Thomas and himself are great friends and planning on coming home at the same time and being room mates at BYUI. They have so much in common it is weird. Like coming out the same date, in the same district at MTC, flying out together, across the seats from each other, getting to be companions, birthday one day apart and they celebrated together, and both coming home together and going to BYUI. Plus they had met at BYUI before but didn't know it til they talked one night. We talked for an hour and 17 minutes and reluctantly hung up. Five minutes later the phone rang and it was Elder Lerwill again (embarrassed) He walked out of talking to us and Sister Rudd asked if he had wished me a Happy Mother's Day. Oops, but that's o.k. So he called to say Happy Mother's Day and then said he wasn't going to say good bye and handed the phone to Elder Thomas. We talked to him for a moment and got his parents phone number. We hung up and then called them. It was a great Mother's Day gift for all of us.
